The Musical Book Tag

After watching Beauty and the Beast, I’ve taken myself back to musicals. I’ll definitely have “Gaston” stuck in my head for the next few weeks. Damn that song for being so catchy and sing-along-y! I naturally had to see if there’s a musical themed book tag. So here we are! Knicked this one off of yaindulgences. I realize this only features a few musicals, but it’s still a fun craic. Feel free to give this one a go if you fancy!

There’s A World – Next to Normal

A book with a great world you want to be part of.

petit

For anyone else who had to read this in high school French, you’re probably wondering why I’d want to dive into the world of Le Petit Prince. I just think it’d be interesting to visit all the different planets. I could travel from one place to another and still be able to come back to Earth. I think it’s a win-win situation.

What You Own – RENT

What author do you have to own all the books by?

Honestly, how could I NOT pick Giovanna Fletcher when she’s my current fave? I, unfortunately, only have Billy and Me and Always With Love, because the first book is the only one available in the US and international shipping is EXPENSIVE! However, I have read all four books and two novellas. That has to count for something, right?

No One Mourns the Wicked – Wicked

The character you hate the most from a book.

hunchback

I really despise Claude Frollo to the depths of Hell Fire (pun totally intended) because, although powerful villains are common in classics, you just know he has that extra special something that makes him dastardly and a cut above the rest. His obsessive lust for Esmeralda, who by the way is only 16/17 and therefore a minor, turns him into a monster because if he can’t have her, he’ll use all the powers bestowed upon him by God to make anyone’s lives around her hell.

All I Ask Of You – Phantom of the Opera

Who’s your favorite romantic pairing in a book?

anne

My OTP since I first read the stories, obviously! Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe.

I Should Tell You – RENT

A book that you think you should keep your feelings hidden about out of fear OR a book you haven’t read that everyone else has.

john

I feel like every John Green fangirl will be out to get me now. I’m sorry if I can’t bring myself to read his books. I just don’t want to.

Dancing Through Life – Wicked

Your ultimate pick me up/feel good book

aogg

I can always count on a trip to Avonlea and Anne’s quirkiness to lift my spirits.

Think Of Me – Phantom of the Opera

The last book you couldn’t get off your mind after reading it.

exit

This literally is the last book I read and I still have all the feels from the ending.

What Is This Feeling? – Wicked

A book that you weren’t sure you would like, but you LOVED it.

chemist

I was hesitant because it’s Stephanie Meyers, but this is honestly a great book.

Didn’t You See This Movie? – Next to Normal

Your favorite movie adaptation/retelling of a book OR a book that strongly reminds you of a movie.

She’s the Man is one of my favorite rom-coms and it’s such a brilliantly hilarious take on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. I absolutely love it.

La Vie Boheme – RENT

A book that features an interesting/quirky cast of characters

series

I’d say the Baudelaire’s are peculiar in their own way, and Count Olaf isn’t your typical villain. Besides them, everyone else they encounter is their own dash of looney.

He’s Not Here – Next to Normal

A book where one of your favorite characters dies (don’t list the character)

deathly

No, it’s not Voldemort.

Epiphany – Bare: A Pop Opera

A book that changed your perspective, taught you something or was extremely thought provoking.

It’s Gonna Be Good – Next to Normal

A book you’re so excited to read!

monster

I don’t care if one of my most anticipated books of the upcoming year is “for kids,” but um, the monster physically moves along as you read the story. If that’s not cool enough for you, then I don’t know what is.

You’re Timeless To Me – Hairspray

A book you consider a classic for you.

gone

This is a classic, but I believe its size scares people off and I love this book.

Don’t Do Sadness/Blue Wind – Spring Awakening

A book that was NOT a tearjerker for you despite (possibly) being sad.

*DISCLAIMER* Okay, I DO NOT have a book for this part of the tag because when I read a book, I get super emotionally invested in the story and characters and DO cry in all the right places.

How Could I Ever Forget – Next to Normal

A book that you read years ago that you had forgotten about

julie

I was perusing the juvenile fiction section of the bookstore one day and I saw this book. I thought it looked incredibly familiar, but I couldn’t make heads or tails where from. Moments later, i realized that I had read this, amongst basically ALL of Jean Craighead George’s books in grade school. I don’t know how I forgot about these books when they were like, an obsession of mine in sixth grade.

  1. There was a time when I forgot that I loved certain musicals in elementary school. I stopped watching and listening to the some of the Disney musicals so I forgot I even loved some of them. I cannot believe I forgot I loved musicals like Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, and Aladdin but than again I was in elementary school at the time

    1. Yeah, but then it comes back to you and you rediscover how much you love them. Since I watched the movie on Saturday, all I’ve been listening to are musicals. I’m tempted to watch a musical movie each night now. Whoops!

      1. When I forgot, I forgot about some of the emotions that they consisted of. In Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, and Aladdin, I mainly remembered the love songs. I now have the want to catch them all live. I have already seen Beauty and the Beast and Lion King live, but have no recollection and as a result want to see them again
