Happy Wednesday, everybody! Can you believe we’re halfway through the first week of May already? It’s crazy how much time is flying. And it’s also insane how windy it’s been here. Gusts have gone as fast as 20 mph yesterday… Unfortunately, such windy conditions aren’t great for outdoor edit writing. Boo.
Anyways, today’s #WritingWednesday post shall be up a little later today. For now, here’s the song of the day!
For some reason, I had the urge to listen to Enrique’s first two albums. I think it’s because Eurovision’s this month and I’m trying to listen to more music from non-American artists. Everyone’s first thought is Enrique Iglesias, right? No? Just me? Okay, then.
Actually, what led me to Enrique was listening to some Kendji Girac and wanting to listen to more Latin-style music (yes, I know he’s French, but he does incorporate Spanish in some of his songs. The French/Spanish blend is amazing!). I am so glad I took the blast from the past route because I totally forgot how much of a tune “Bailamos” is. All of the singles from this album—his first English album thanks to the likes of Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan for making the Spanish/English crossover possible in the late 90s—are jams, but this one is my favorite.
I remember my favorite line from this song growing up was “te quiero, amor mio” just because that was in Spanish and also, the Taco Bell chihuahua’s “yo quiero Taco Bell” catch phrase. I was clearly a weird kid, but if you want to listen to a great blast from the past, here ya go!
